☯ About Dr Derek Sheridan ☯
Dr Derek Sheridan is an anthropologist whose research examines global imaginaries within South-South political-economic contexts. His work investigates Afro-Asian connections, with a particular focus on trading dynamics, interpersonal relations, and narratives of nationhood and culture. His ongoing project explores Afro-Asian cultural exchange, specifically the historical trajectories of East Asian martial arts in East Africa and their significance in Tanzanian filmmaking and embodied practices. His forthcoming book, "Chinese Migrants and the Interpersonal Ethics of Global Inequality in Tanzania", draws on 17 months of ethnographic fieldwork and critically analyses Chinese-Tanzanian relations through the lenses of migration, trade, and ethical engagement.

Lou Mo is a Chinese-Canadian artist and curator whose research focuses primarily on modern and contemporary exchanges between Asia and Africa, as well as the works of Third World artists. She is also interested in the dynamics of center and periphery, diaspora, identity, and the perceptual differences emerging from post-colonial history.
Musquiqui Chihying is a Taiwanese visual artist. Specialising in the use of multimedia such as film and sound, he investigates the human condition and environmental system in the age of global capitalisation and engages in the inquiry of and research on issues of subjectivity in contemporary social culture in the Global South.
